In September 2021, MIA officially awarded Five Gold Anchor certification to Lantau Yacht Club, Discovey Bay, Hong Kong, which is the first one in Hong Kong development history of yacht club and the 13th in Asia to obtain the certification of Global High-Level Yacht Club, marking that the Lantau Yacht Club ranked into the list of world-class clubs. There sets 148 berths which allow various yachts with lengths ranging from 33 feet to 330 feet to berth.
As the EPC (Engineering Procurement Construction) contractor of concrete pontoon system in Discovery Bay Marina Refurbishment Works, Potona Marine Co., Ltd was responsible for design, manufacture, construction and installation of the whole concrete pontoon system. All berths and related structural fittings were designed and constructed in strict accordance with Hong Kong Building Codes and British Standards. The project prepared in March 2019 and was given Commencement Order in the same September, the high efficiency of the works was credited to engineers’ efforts from Potona and Consultant. Through all staff’s efforts, we reached the first milestone in May 2020, that is the berths at phase 1 were put into use. Suffering from CoVid-19 pandemic in 2020, Potona’s staff had been taking an active part in pandemic prevention work, coordinating production effectively and communicating accurately and timely, which made the prefabricated pontoon sub-project successfully completed and the on-site installation carried out. Thanks to Chinese government’s achievements on pandemic prevention and control, all walks of life in China can resume production in a short time, so our transportation schedule of goods to Hong Kong was not affected. The whole project was passed the acceptance and given Substantial Completion Certificate in November 2020.
The client’s representative highly praised Potona’s cooperation during construction, "Your cooperation helps a lot under pandemic, I am very satisfied with the marina quality". Potona Marine Co., Ltd and Potona (Hong Kong) Marine Co., Ltd hereby show our appreciation to all colleagues who have contributed to this project!
